NH Adventure Boot Camp for Women, located in Ashland, NH and owned by Dee Dee Monahan, recently offered an opportunity for regular clients to “sweat and serve” this past month! Dee Dee and Tammy Levesque changed up their regular Saturday morning classes and ran them as a contribution-based class to participate in Boot Camp with all proceeds donated to a local non-profit organization serving the area.
Dee Dee, as a former mentor for the Circle Program, and Tammy suggested the organization knowing that the Circle Program serves under-resourced girls from low-income NH families. Tammy was happy to volunteer and teach her class knowing that there were other mentors ready to rally for this cause, including Karen Schaffner. Karen is also a Circle mentor who participates regularly in the Boot Camp and said she was happy to help spread the word on behalf of the Circle Program.
Their collective desire to ‘do good’ didn’t end there…Scott Bishop from Bishop Homes in Holderness NH, who is a friend of both the Boot Camp and the Circle Program, stepped up and decided to match the proceeds! This brought the combined total donation close to $800, enough to help send our high school teens to T.A.P. (Teen Adventure Program) for a week. Our T.A.P. teens will spend a week in the wilderness next summer, exploring and discovering new leadership skills, activities and adventures to help build on their competence and confidence. This partnership is a ‘win-win’ for the NH Adventure Boot Camp and the
Circle Program, as they collaborate for mutual benefit. The relationship will continue to build as Boot Camp participants become, or help recruit, new mentors for the program. Dee Dee has also offered to visit Circle Camp to offer some fun Boot Camp activities to our Circle girls. These are the kinds of partnerships that are so exciting for non-profits like the Circle Program, as organizations work in alliance with local support and businesses.
