Circle Girls take on Mt. Kearsarge

September 24, 2018

Our first group gathering of the school year was a blast!  Thank you so much to the brave girls and mentors who joined us.  We talked about the different types of challenges we face in our lives and shared some strategies that we use to encourage ourselves and others.  The mentors voted to head up the mountain using the 1.1 mile Winslow trail which was certainly a challenge with its steep grade and many rocks lining the way.

At the top we ate a much deserved lunch, enjoyed the stunning 360 degree views and climbed the fire tower to get up even higher.  We took this group photo and had our closing circle at the summit, where girls and mentors shared their impressions of the hike and the experience of reaching the summit.  Some of the words shared were, challenging, tired, cold, inspiring, friendship and pride.

Standing in the circle, we were all able to experience a sense of shared accomplishment.  I am so proud of the way the girls challenged themselves, encouraged others and came together as friends.  What a special day! I am grateful to have been a part of it.
