Our Mentoring Program
Key to the success of our work with girls is our one-on-one Mentoring Program. Our volunteer mentors are charged with developing a caring, accepting, and positive relationship with their girl or teen, along with keeping them connected to our program throughout the school year. When a girl enters our program, she is paired with a woman volunteer mentor.
When a Mentor first becomes involved, they participate in a comprehensive orientation session prior to their initial meeting with their mentee. Additionally, regularly scheduled mentor trainings are offered throughout the year. Our Mentors do a very important job and we strive to make sure they are well supported.
Whether we are simply relaxing at the lake or chatting about life's challenges over breakfast, I love spending time with my Circle Girl, Alexis. She always keeps me on my toes and gives me an opportunity to reflect on my own path as I help her navigate hers.
Mentors meet with their girls or teens a minimum of once each month, when they engage in a variety of activities including one-on-one get togethers as well as group gatherings. The group gatherings are critical as they allow the girls to maintain the connections and friendships they made at camp.
